Time: 45 min.
Today was short practice, because I spent lots of my two-hour slot re-stringing my bass and adjusting its bridge. It was worth it though. So I managed to get a little more done with Findeisen, but I’m going just continue my plans from yesterday tomorrow.

This was a very good practice. I actually got through the first third in a little less than an hour–including 6th AND 7th intervals. I haven’t done octaves yet, but I’ll maybe start doing that on Friday. I don’t want to start doing that on Wednesday because that’s too soon. Not on Thursday either because I have to prepare for a demonstration . . . maybe I should do it on Thursday. I change my mind: I’m going to try octaves on Thursday.
So far, loosening up is good.

I’ve found that I squeeze the bow a lot. I need to stop this. I think it stems from trying to play louder or more violently.

Time: I forgot.
I honestly forget what I did, but I did practice.
Crap, I’m slacking.

Today was totally Nanny Etudes. Now, I’m starting to write my tempos in and scratching them off when I improve. This idea came from one of Lawrence Angel’s stories. That’s basically it. I did notice that my wrist was bent downwards a bit too much. So I’m focusing on changing that. That’s not hard though.

Time: 100 min.
Today was good. I started by working on spiccato for Beethoven 5 trio. After twenty minutes, it was Nanny etudes to the end. I worked the first up to around 108ish, 120ish (pushing it). I even did the quintuplets well–finally! My posture seems to be fine, but I remember in rehearsal, I was overdoing my bow stroke: it started scratching a lot. I have to learn control.

Today was horrible. It was so damn humid that I had to stop practicing–my forehead was burning. Damn. I managed to go over the C# minor scale some, but that’s about it. Tomorrow, I’m doing things differently.
